“Your beauty, your simplicity, your aura struck my eye,
If you hadn’t been in my life, my whole life would have been a lie.”
Our society is intolerant to marriages outside one’s religion or caste. It abhors any deviation from the traditional path of marriage. But love knows no caste, no religion. It is free as the birds and sweet as the songs of the nightingale. Today’s couple Mrinal and Shelly are a Punjabi-Christian couple who fought against all odds to be together forever. Finally their 11 long years of courtship culminated in marriage, to the couple’s joy. They had a chance encounter in a mall where they both had come to celebrate a common friend’s birthday. For Mrinal, it was love at first sight. Mrinal, who is a one-time-commitment guy and a romantic at heart; decided to talk to this lovely lady who had stole his heart in one glance. Mrinal approached Shelly’s friend and asked her to tell Shelly that he wanted to talk to her. He was quite lucky, as Shelly called him up and the foundations of a beautiful friendship, that would later evolve into love; was laid. I would like to mention 1 incident that goes on to prove, what a sweet guy Mrinal is- Initially when he started talking to Shelly, he didn’t save her number, he simply memorized it. But each day, his feelings for her grew stronger and he realized she was the one for him; it was then that he saved her number as ‘Soulmate’. (which Shelly, truly turned out to be) 4 months into this friendship, Mrinal proposed Shelly and Shelly accepted as she had developed some feelings for our charming Mrinal. They were in a relationship for 11 years, during which they had both good and bad times, but nothing was strong enough to break their bond of infinite love and faith in each other.
While this amazing couple were in a relationship, they went through some tough times. But these lovebirds couldn’t resist each other’s charm. Convincing everyone for marriage wasn’t going to be a piece of cake for them. This story had it’s own share of Bollywood drama. But they left no stone unturned to convince everyone. Shelly was working abroad since 3 and a half years but this distance did not diminish their love for each other. Finally, everyone had to give in to the wishes of this couple. A date was settled upon and the guests were invited. Mrinal did not expect many relatives or extended family members would attend the wedding as it was an inter-religion wedding. But to his surprise, the entire family was in attendance at the wedding. They had 2 weddings- a Christian wedding on 27th January,2016 and a Punjabi wedding on 28th January,2016. The bride and groom looked stunning in both the weddings. Mrinal was enchanted and dumbstruck to see his beautiful bride, Shelly. He completely lost sense of place and time and was mesmerized by Shelly. Have a look for yourselves-
“When I saw you in the wedding gown,
Everything froze and time stood still.
Everyone had to bow down,
in front of 2 resolute lovers’ will.”
Mrinal and Shelly are happily married and are about to leave for their postponed honeymoon, in Maldives. Soon after marriage, they were to leave for their honeymoon, but Shelly lost her passport so they had to cancel. Instead they went to Goa. Still, they had a really good time because all that mattered was that they were together. Mrinal feels that Shelly is a practical person and someone whom he can look up to in hard times or when he needs an advice. She is someone who stood by him through thick and thin. Mrinal strives to make Shelly smile in the smallest possible ways and is willing to sacrifice anything for her sake, this is something that Shelly finds quite attractive. Both of them complement each other and are a perfect match. There are 2 small facts that will give the readers, an insight into the amount of love they have for each other. There is this great coincidence that whenever they go out, without having discussed what to wear for that occasion, most of the times they end up wearing same colour clothes. Mrinal is such a sweet husband that even when he senses the surprise his wife has planned for him, (which happens most of the times) he pretends to be surprised just to bring a smile on her face. If this isn’t love, then what is? I wish this beautiful couple eternal bliss and lots of love! Your love makes this world a better place to live in. Keep smiling! Keep loving! <3 <3
