A wedding is one of the most important events in one’s life, and to make it memorable, we can go to any length. Every wedding is not devoid of the wedding hassles, so we strive to reduce these hassles so that you can have the best time of your lives. All love stories do not begin with romance, lovey-dovey conversations; some might begin with a fight – and an ugly one at that. Abhishikt and Josephine were from the same school- Ingraham Institute, and Abhishikt was from the senior batch. They knew each other as their parents used to work at the same school. Yet their paths crossed for the first time at the basketball court, where Abhishikt had come as a coach and Josephine – a 12th grader was part of the team. They had an ugly spat and there was no scope for further conversation between them.
But like a Bollywood masala movie, where the hero and heroine fight with each other initially, and later end up being deeply in love; this story had its own share of twists and turns. Our ‘Hero’ Abhishikt aka Teddy 😉 and ‘Heroine’ Josephine aka Annie fell madly, deeply in love. It all started one fine day, when they had a Facebook chat. Josephine was having her class 12 board exams at that time. They talked almost regularly for a month on Facebook, later shifting on to messenger and later GTalk. GTalk became their lifeline and they waited for each to come online with bated breath. Soon Josephine became fond of Abhishikt. There was a gap of a few months before our Annie joined college. During these months she proposed Abhishikt, who rejected her. (quite unexpected, huh! ) Abhishikt told her “let the feeling mature, explore your world and then we might see about it”. Poor Annie was heartbroken. Abhishikt wasn’t in peace after rejecting this girl who loved him so much. He, gradually started missing her. They weren’t talking anymore. On 14th May, 2009 Josephine’s GTalk status read- “I love my Teddy” (She used to call him Teddy) ; (Abhishikt couldn’t resist her charms anymore 😉 ) On the same day, Abhishikt changed his GTalk status to – “Your teddy loves you back” (What a novel way to propose! Readers! take note 😉 ) Then there was no looking back. This was the beginning of a long distance relationship, which later culminated into marriage.
“When you are around, romance is in the air,
You are my life, my soul, my Teddy bear.”
They met for the first time on 1st April, 2011 in CCD, Rajiv Chowk. Annie was very nervous and jittery. She was full of apprehensions of how this meeting would turn out to be. She couldn’t even attend college that day. Annie couldn’t stop blushing when she saw Teddy. She had never felt so shy, ever. They hugged and didn’t let go of each other’s hand the whole day. It was more exciting to meet each other in person after being in this long distance relationship.
THE (OFFICIAL) PROPOSAL
Abhishikt had to go back after some time so they were back in a long distance relationship. It was a hard time for the couple, but they didn’t let their love wane. In 2013 Abhishikt went ahead to pursue his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad . Annie decided to give him a surprise visit to his hostel right before his birthday (02.02.15). He was so thrilled to see her. There is this custom in IIM, that on the midnight before someone’s birthday begins, they have to give a “Senti Speech” after the birthday bumps. That was the glorious moment when Teddy got on his knees and officially proposed Annie for marriage, right in front of the whole college. Annie was flabbergasted and teary-eyed at this sudden show of emotion. Annie accepted. They informed their parents, who agreed to the match after meeting each other. As Abhishikt was still pursuing his MBA, so marriage plans had to be stalled for a while. Annie kept a 30 day fast to seek answer from Jesus regarding marriage. Her prayers were answered. They were destined to be together. It was as if ordained by Lord. They tied the knot on 14th November, 2015.
Though the bride and groom are not to see each other at least for a month before marriage, but this lovely couple kept on making excuses to sneak out together. They planned and shopped for the wedding together.
Emotions came into play when they were to decide the wedding venue. Ingraham Institute held a special place in their lives. They had both attended school there. It was also their childhood dream to get married from Ingraham. It was their church, as well; and moreover, Annie’s mom was married from Ingraham, itself. So, Ingraham was settled as the venue for the wedding.
A major part of the marriage shopping was done from Chandni Chowk, a favourite destination for wedding shopping. Chandni Chowk is a place where one can find a large variety of lehengas which are pocket friendly as well. The wedding gown was by designer Deepti from D Designs. Annie designed her own bridal gown, after about 2 months of research. (She is really fond of ball gowns with drapes). Gloves were a major problem as ivory coloured gloves of elbow length weren’t available. Fortunately they were sent by Annie’s friend from USA. The jewellery was from Tanishq. Finding the right slipper for the bride became a herculean task, as she was looking for a slipper of size 41 with no heels. The couple are of the same height, so Annie didn’t want to wear heels, even though she is fond of them and Abhishikt didn’t mind her wearing them. She finally found the perfect slippers at Rajouri garden merely at a throw-away price. Abhishikt’s suit from Louis Phillipe was finalized, almost after going through 50-60 suits. His turban came all the way from Jaipur, as Annie’s family is Rajasthani, so they got a tie and dye turban for the groom.
Pre-wedding photo shoot was a sudden decision for the couple. They had a junior from school Shallom Spencer, who happened to be a photographer, whom they met and decided to have a photoshoot the next day itself. They chose the memorable places where they had met and spent time together, as venues for the shoot (CP, CCD) and incorporated all their special moments in this shoot.
The wedding photography was done by Mr. Noel John, who had a longtime wish of covering Annie’s wedding.
Annie got her makeup done at IOSIS by Monica. On the day of her engagement, their hair dresser had left the job and there was no one to tend to her hair. The to-be bride was really furious, but nothing could be done. (Still, she looked gorgeous) Thankfully, there were no such glitches on her wedding day.
The wedding was a beautiful affair. For the first time, there were ‘Bridesmen’ along with ‘Bridesmaids’. The bride and the groom looked stunning. When Annie walked down the aisle, Teddy could’t take his eyes off her, and in this moment, he felt that he was the luckiest man in the world. Have a peek into some beautiful moments from their special day-
Abhikshit and Josephine Anshika (Abhi+Shika=Abhishika) are happily married (at times Annie forgets that they are actually married! 😉 ) Annie feels that her Teddy is a shy person who always builds these walls around him, that only very special people could break. (Annie was really special!) He is a soft-hearted, funny, adventurous person, passionate, loving, a Taekwondo black belt and a die-hard Chelsea fan. They want to travel to new destinations and make a scrapbook of their travel. This is how Abhikshit feels about his darling Annie-
